I have the sharing links turned off on those pages which do offer that option. ON our older pages, we do not have the option to edit our images, add a watermark, etc. All our pages should be of the same format here at DA. It seems that those older pages of mine are targeted the most. Regardless of the fact that on each photo there is a copyright image, I list in the captions of my photos that the photos are not to be reproduced, etc, etc, which means placed on another website without my written permission. I have this also stated on my main page just above the link to my gallery. It is not like they are not aware of what they are doing. Making a link back to my page does not mean that they are not breaking copyright laws. The mere fact that that my image is loaded upon another website is in effect breaking that law. Link back or no link back. My work is being used to promote a website of which I am not the owner of, nor have I given my permission for the work to be there, as I have done so for deviantart.com

I do not like the sharing buttons here on DA. However, I do not blame DA for my work being where it does not belong. I blame the people who are placing my work where it has not business being at. Even if one were to forget to remove the "sharing Link" it would not make it ok to take that image and place it on another website without permission from the artist.

Not a Happy Camper today, folks. Every so often, I do a search for my art online, to see who is using my photography without permission. I always hope that I will come up empty, this search that I do, but I have come to absolutely dread it, as I always, always find my work sitting someplace that it does not belong. It is not like I do not have copyright marks all over my work and on nearly every page, they flat out ignore it. Do they think that we will not find it? Do they think that we are only known here at Deviantart? Do they think that others who stumble across the site will not recognize that they have seen it before and whom it really belongs to?? I have gone to websites and seen the work of others here at Deviantart.com and have come back to send a note in order to make the person aware that I found their work someplace else. Sometimes I learn that it was intended, most often not.

But today beats all. I found MY photography and the work of MANY, MANY others from Deviantart.com posted on the following website and I have no clue what this site is about, who runs it, and how they get the photos they are using that belong to me. They have a Login link and a Register Link... but I have never registered, yet my work sits on their site. I even went so far as to try to Login, acting as if I could not remember my password, to see how that would turn out but was informed that I do not exist on that site. How about that???

Don't bother trying the Search Button, it does not work, how neat is that??

Granted, they are not calling my work their work, they did give me credit and a link back to my deviantart.com page, but I wonder how my work got there in the first place if I am not a member of their website???? I did not give permission for my work to be reproduced upon another website. Would be very interested in seeing that written permission showing that I did....

Anyone know anything about this place? How many of you are listed there that are not members, either, I wonder? It is wrong. Flat out wrong.

Truly funny thing is, is that the page that holds one of my photos for a "collection" titled "100 Fantastic Blue Vision Photographs" and the page is dated today's date! Take a Look. Don't forget to also check out the other link below this link, as well.

Front page(home page) states they have 590 users, 7,242 photos and they have photo contests for what appears to be money. Do not hold me to that, as I said, I am not a member and am only assuming by what the page states if you go to the link below. Maybe someone here might know more and be able to inform us of just what is going on at this site... This website might well be a decent place, but I do not like one single bit that my work is up there, I was not asked prior to it's use on this website, have given no permission for it to be listed at this website and would not have known about it at all had I not decided it was time to do another search to find my photography where it should not be. I would hope that whomever is running the show realizes that they can not just use any photo and that by giving a link back to the person's page does not make it ok to use someone's work without permission.

I can't be thrilled that my work was chosen, as I would be thrilled if I were a member, etc. Sad.

Check the site and see if you find your work. Will take some time. You might want to go to a search engine such as google.com or AIM search (which is where I picked it up from, btw) and see if you locate your work that way and save yourself some time. As I said, their website search link does not work, so it is either go link by link within their website, photo by photo, or AIM search it by using your user name here at Deviantart.com.
