My brother, Don, who surprised us a few days ago when he came over bearing new laptops for my daughters. I nearly passed out and I think my girls have been glued to those machines ever since. I kind of felt sorry for their old desktop computers. :D

If possible, make sure you get extended warranties on those laptops. They are notorious for breaking down. We have had to replace my husbands over 3 times within the last 2 yrs.

My biggest problem is determining what all the warranties will cover. I don't understand all the tech talk, and get lost when reading what it will and will not cover. I do want to extend the warranty though. My biggest worry will be (knock on wood) dropping them and also overheating. I am forever walking in there and reminding them about making sure air can get to the bottom. I like being able to transport my files though, will be wonderful for me when doing genealogy. I can type straight into the machine instead of on notebook paper and then coming home and trying to remember where everything was, what cemetery, directions, etc when I am transcribing records to put online. One thing I don't like is the screen. So used to my desktop screen and it's colors and contrast. To me, the laptops seem too light even when adjusted. To others it is fine, I guess it is just my eye and what I am used to seeing on my desktop vs other people's machines.

BTW, you are in VA, right? I might be heading up that way soon, to see a friend who is unwell. I could stop by but it would be a very quick visit if I did. I think I can squeeze maybe 30 mins to an hour in. Maybe we could meet someplace and have lunch or something? All depends upon what side of the state you live on. I am heading towards the eastern side of the state this time. More toward the tidewater area.

Thank you, Rob. This was taken during the "mom's day party" where all the moms got honored and my nephew cooked dinner for us all. I like his hat, to me it gives him a Hemingway look. :) But then again, I have always liked hats on men. Wish they would wear them more often.
