Beautiful kitty portrait, love how her whiskers are illuminated against the dark.

3/4 black, the very bottom had a slight tinge of another color and I touched that up on the left side, but most of the shot was done naturally. I use the light to my advantage when possible. Only item touched up here was sharpen, contrast and a two clicks of saturation. :) If you look up towards the top of her whiskers, you can see areas that could have been touched up, but was not. :)

Thank you, Gloria! This one was taken the same time as Perched. She was on the china cabinet, and in this shot, she was coming down from her "perch", heh-heh. Going after a necklace I had laid on the floor. She has a thing for necklaces. I think she was a crow in her last life. :D

Yea I noticed that earlier but Its just a paw or something? Gives it depth and interest.. and untypicalness which is good. Wasnt sure if maybe u had a black backdrop... it was dark and used flash or what so i was just curious. Its a nice shot. Thanks for the reply.

Looks alot like my own cat. =)

Very good shot.

I do have a black backdrop but it was not used in this shot. The cabinet she is on is a dark color and I often shoot in that room, near that cabinet due to the light conditions. Or late at night, using clip on lights, but not pointing the lights towards my subject directly. In this shot, a small stream of light was coming in from the window, only. Last three cat shots were taken at the same time, few minutes apart, actually. But I do darken up areas if I can or if they need it. Or sometimes I will go over the entire image and kind of blend what did not come out the way I hoped it would. I love to play with the curves and contrast features in Photoshop and that helps a lot, too. It is her paw in this one. She was coming down off the cabinet to the floor to grab a necklace I had just laid on the floor to take a photo of to send to a friend. I forgot the necklace after the shot, came in to download and by the time I returned, half of the necklace was bent beyond repair. I was telling another that I think she was a crow in her last life. Likes shiny things. :)

ahhh, i love the contrast between the black background and miss kittys whiskers. and all the different tones of green and gold in her eyes. absolutely beautiful.

She has the most beautiful eyes of any cat I have ever had. Which makes me feel guilty saying that, as if they could hear me or something. LOL!!!
